My Story
When I was 15 years old, I met a person who would ultimately change my life. My high school social worker was the first person who I felt really listened to me and helped guide me. At that time, not only was I living those tumultuous teenage years so many of us go through, I was also trying to navigate my way through living as part of a very dysfunctional family.
The social worker validated my thoughts and feelings and gave me hope that life didn't have to be this way. I realized I had the choice and the power to create a new path for myself. And that's when my true journey of healing began. After learning how to cope with and overcome the cycle of poverty, addiction, and unhealthy relationship patterns, I realized I wanted to do the same thing for others.
My Background
I received a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work from New York University (NYU) in 2006. Since graduating, I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient behavioral health settings. These opportunities allowed me to help individuals across the lifespan, including those struggling with severe mental illness and traumatic life experiences.
Over the course of the last 17 years, I went from a primary therapist, to a Clinical Supervisor to the Clinic Director of a community mental health clinic. As I took on more administrative responsibilities, I realized that I was getting pulled further away from the work I loved and the clients I was so eager to help. That's when I decided to make a change, and created my private practice.
Going out on my own has been a full circle moment for me, allowing me to focus on my love of helping women realize their full potential. I feel honored to meet each and every one of my clients, to hear their stories and see their lives change in such amazing ways.
Fun Facts About Me
I'm a firm believer in making sure you find time for yourself and there are lots of things I enjoy doing in my spare time. I love going to my daughters soccer games, walking my adorable 16 year old puggle, and going for runs. When I'm not spending time outside, I always look forward to watching Jeopardy! with my family and I can knit a mean pair of mittens! And I love to travel and cross things off my bucket list.
Why Work With Me?
I am an active listener who aims to bring compassion, comfort, authenticity, and even a dose of human when I can to every conversation. Being a therapist is truly my passion. When I am working with clients and guiding them through life's many challenges is when I feel like I am most helpful.
With so many things to talk about, I have found the clients who are most successful with me are those who come ready to work. You are motivated to figure out what's been keeping you stuck, you're committed to growth, and are willing to give up old habits that no longer serve you.
